Are you going to the beach this summer?
Let's talk about how to get those great photos.
If you've got a cloudy or overcast day, you're in luck. I love cloudy and overcast days!
I know it's not what you want when you are going to the beach, but it makes for amazing photos!
There will be less shadows and squinting from the sun.
Another thing that is great about those days is that you may be one of the only ones at the beach, so you won't have to compete with other people in the photos.
1. Be aware of the light. Morning or Evening light is the best.
The golden hour...two hours after sunrise or two hours before sunset.
If you have to take them in the bright sun, look for some shadows or turn your subjects away from the sun.
2. Capture colors and actions.
There is so much going on at the beach...all those colors from animals, people, blankets, umbrellas, buckets, kiddos, etc.
Look for different things to focus on.
A bucket.
A shell.
The waves coming in.
An umbrella.
Toes in the sand.
3. Vary your perspective.
Take photos from the back, from the top, from beneath. Find all those different perspectives.
Get down low to capture that wave coming in.
Get over top of the kiddos making the sandcastle.
If you capture some great photos, share them with us.
